I love those crazy super-realist paintings of objects crashing through what appears to be a real landscape but is just a poster... torn paper edges and all. Like those recent car commercials. Always wanted to do that...

How about...
A beautiful nature scene in the foreground with animals and/or people staring into the distance where a dark, dirty city looms and appears to be growing like a tumor towards them.
or
A more whimsical scene that combines nature AND civilization. Trees that are skyscrapers, racoons using roller blades, waterfalls cascading over low-rise buildings, etc.
or
A scene similar to that used in Lord of the Rings when they were entering the Fairy realm. That was quite beautiful.

paint something that has importance to the area where it will be seen at... something historical, cultural, or natural. Identify your audience and dirrect it towards them,
