Any hair type may be cornrowed.
While an inexperienced braider or "loc-tician," might not be able to work with short and curlies, hehe, there are stylists in the industry who are very adept at cornrowing hair of ANY length. Find yourself some Africans, they are very skilled at working with the short and curlies. =) After all, many people in their culture have VERY short hair, and yet they still manage to braid their hair... =)
If you intend to wear your hair cornrowed for several days, be sure to mist it with water from a spray bottle the night before, and wrap your head with a bandana or scarf to keep it looking nice.
Cheers.

your regular stylist doesn't have a clue??? Well..Im a white girl who is lucky enough to know some talented black friends who could cornrow under an air raid!! Their expert fingers can do almost any length of hair(I think) tho' I recommend getting some length to it before consulting either a friend or beautician who does corn rows. Yes professionals are usually black...though it is not the rule.

You should definitely go to a salon that specializes in doing African American hair. Your hair has to be a minimum of 4 inches long, but they usually like to work with 6 inches. It's not difficult, but your scalp may hurt for a while because it won't be used to having your hair done tightly. You should also ask the stylist about how to care for your corn rows. (If you should wear a scarf or cap while sleeping, how to wash your head, how to make them last, what products to use, etc.)

My black friend tried to cornrow my hair. It turned out horrid lol. I was a knotty mess. She had no clue what to do with my hair. I have no clue what to do with her hair lol. Some white hair looks very cute in it though. Go to a black hairstylist.

I knew a blonde who had really long straight hair. She had beautify corn rows sp? I have see other white women with it. Ask someone else who has more confidence about it. The short hair might be the problem. You may have to grow it out since your hair might be so slippery. Ask someone who specializes in corn rows. They curls should be to your benefit and hold it better.

Any great beautician can style "hair". They taught me that there is no difference between "white/black/asiain" hair... except for when it comes to maintenance...
Like I said, any beautician who can do hair can do it! Just make sure that you get some Paul Mitchell "Medium-Hold" Styling Foam to put in every now and then. You use it to keep your braids looking new and non-fuzzy.
Good Luck
