"If I were the president, I could stop terrorist attacks against the United States in a few days. Permanently. I would first apologize -- very publicly and very sincerely -- to all the widows and the orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, and all the many millions of other victims of American imperialism.
I would then announce that America_s global interventions -- including the awful bombings -- have come to an end. And I would inform Israel that it is no longer the 51st state of the union but -_ oddly enough -_ a foreign country. I would then reduce the military budget by at least 90% and use the savings to pay reparations to the victims and repair the damage from the many American bombings and invasions. There would be more than enough money. Do you know what one year of the US military budget is equal to? One year. It is equal to more than $20,000 per hour for every hour since Jesus Christ was born.

If I were the President, I would suggest the dissolution of the Union in favor of the United Federation of States, wherein the values of the North East or the West Coast could come into play in those federations, while the values of, say, the deep south, could come into play in that federation. The Central Government would only be there for Defense of the Union and International Affairs.
The way the country is now, liberals and conservatives cancel each other out and we are left with the people in the middle, who can't make up their minds, charting the course of the country. It's a crazy system right now, one that only results in stagnation.
There would be a 10 year moritorium wherein people could move to their Federation of choice.

Done. No more anomosity (and the borders between federations would not be closed, so, you wouldn't be trapped in a Federation that runs counter to your beliefs)

See, everyone would be happy, theoretically.

Terrorists care nothing for apologies. They kill to enslave not to free men, women, and children. How many innocent victims have they killed with suicide bombs, beheadings, car bombs, and so forth? Read the book by Jean Sasson Mayada Daughter Of Iraq. You will see what living under terror is really like. None of you or I chose where, when, or to whom we were born. We could have been one of the many Iraqis in mass graves who had been executed without any fair legal proceedings. How would you like to be hauled off to prison to be tortured with electric devices, beatings, and fire without being allowed to contact your family? If I were President, how could I neglect their need to be free from such cruelty? WWII meant sending our troops over to Europe to fight and many die in a war against the enemies of freedom. Japan attacked us first in Hawii while pretending to be trying to solve the problem in a diplomatic method. The terrorist on 9/11 struck America resulting in the death of three thousand. The difference is that these cowards do not hold to the rule of war. They have no military uniform to distinguish themselves. The prisoners they capture in battle are usually beheaded. The targets are those who want to live in peace but die violent deaths. Freedom unlike a used car does not come cheap. The price is very high to fight those who want to of all people, its blessings deny. The office of President is not for cowards or the faint of heart. Tough decisions must be made that effect millions of lives. It is an awesome responsability to lead this country through a new kind of war, terrorist threats, natural disasters, and a growing economy. It is more than I could handle.

I would educate people as to what real life is like.

For example, the need to taxes. Without taxes, the roads would be in really poor shape. The fire department would not be there to save people. Schools would suffer. Smart students who can not afford higher education would not be able to go to school, and possibly make some huge medical discovery. Taxes are needed and should not be really low.

I would want to educate the Christian's in this country and show them how their non-Christ like behavior is doing more harm than good. I am a christian myself and one of my few passions in life is showing people who were hurt by Christianity was Jesus was really like. He hung out with the sinners and loved people. Today's stereotypical American Christian is more Pharisee than Christ-like.

I would keep religion out of the government. Separation of church and state people. Doing something and saying it is in God's name only pisses off more people.

I would hold myself to the same standards as I would ask other countries to do. No "you can not have nuclear weapons but we can" stuff. Bush and his policies are full of hypocrisy. No wonder the US is one of the most hated nations in the world.

I can go on and on, but I shall stop here.

LOL....that's good. And as long as you don't preach to the masses and support freedom of religion and freedom from religious persecution, I'll vote for you.

Right, and when something similar to 9/11 happens again, then what? Apologize more? Tell the terrorists how sorry you are that you made them kill thousands of innocent people, and give them money? Yeah, that'd work great...

I would enact new sedition laws, particularly against those who pretend to be citizens but are actually allies of our enemies. I would force Islam, by proper means, into reformation or retreat.

I would call a traitor a traitor. I would call an enemy an enemy.

I would do pretty much otherwise what we have.

Expect more.
