Wow, that's some amazing child you've got there. I say let him expand his mind!

If it is as I assume and you mean 6 YEAR old, then it's perfectly normal, I used to do the same thing, only I used to read by the light on the landing or in the bathroom to avoid getting into trouble. If he is tired and grouchy in the morning then it is a problem because he's not getting nearly enough sleep. Explain to him that he needs to sleep to be ready for school, and he can always read in the morning. A warm drink of cocoa or milk can help him nod off if he's having trouble sleeping.

Sorry but i do not believe that a 6 month old child likes reading and turns the light back on himself, how does he hold the book himself and turn the pages!! however i maybe see the possibility of him turning the light on if it is a pull cord in which case move his crib away from the light switch.

Assuming you are meaning 6 YEAR old child? This is the way my 7 yo is as well. You could try putting the light on a timer. We know someone else who did this. With our son, if he turns the light back on then I usually just take his booklight and his book away from him until the next day.

If he "really" is reading at 6 months, then you should look for programs that will give him even more to learn. That is the age when a child's brain is like a sponge.

On the other hand, if this is a hoax, disregard above advise, and get some help for yourself.

I find it hard to believe a 6 MONTH old child is reading. BUT:

Reading is the absolute key to learning all subjects, in addition to improving vocabulary and imagination. The desire to read at an early age should be nourished at all costs, even if it means staying up past one's bedtime.

Umm. I really hope you mean 6 years because a 6 month old is kinda incapable of that. But I really don't think it's a bad thing at all... But if you really want him to stop, duct tape the light switch or something.

You really should think about calling Guiness! Fact he's getting up and switching on the light is quite an accomplishment in itself at 6 months

That's nothing. My wife who is 3 months pregnant kept being awaken by music at night. Then she came to the realization that the music was emanating from her tummy. It was the baby humming Beethoven's 5th symphony.Go figure.A class act in the making.

And that is a bad thing how exactly?

Your child likes reading, let him get on with it.

[EDIT] Wait, 6 months? Ok this must be a joke.
