She'll walk when she is developmentally ready. Hold her hand and when she takes the slightest step CELEBRATE LIKE YOU LOST YOUR MIND. This is so sweet. RELISH this time...when she starts to walk her busy-ness is gonna DRIVE YOU BONKERS. Awww. Let the little angel take her time, but also try putting everything she wants on the other side of the room. Stand her up and hold her little hand and start her off. She needs more confidence and also strength in her wee little legs. So sweet!!! Be patient.

Crawling is good for kids. It's usually best to let them do it as long as they want. They will walk when they are ready. But if your child is far behind the "normal" time when kids start walking, you might ask your pediatrician for help. Maybe there is an issue that a physical therapist can deal with.
My daughter couldn't crawl very well and we had to take her to a physical therapist to help develop her arm muscles. She then crawled for a few weeks and then immediately started walking when she was less than a year old. My son crawled until he was about a year and a half. He just didn't feel the need to walk. They all learn to walk in their own good time.
Your child is only one. There is no reason to force her to walk at all. Let her crawl, please. It's good for her.

Rule out any physical problems by taking your child to the doctor. If there are no problems, then the walking will take place when he/she is ready. She/He must have a reason to walk. Keep things at a distance that the child likes or enjoys. Don't give in when your child wants whatever this may be and cries. At first assist the walking then later, let him/her cry for a while. Your child will soon understand that he/she can get it by walking.

My son didn't walk until he was 1 and a half years old. It didn't bother me. I knew he would walk, when he was ready to.
Your baby probably does not have total muscle strength yet to hold her self up and walk. It takes a lot of muscle strength to have balance. Every baby develops the muscle strength they need to walk at different rates. Obviously she will be walking by the time she is 2. Don't compare her to other children her age that might be walking. It is not fair to her. Every child is different , with different talents and strengths. Your only going to scare her by trying to push her before she is capable of walking.
If you have been having regular baby checkups with her pediatrician, and he sees nothing wrong with her, then don't worry.
Once she is walking you will be wishing for those days when she just crawled.
I have taken care of a lot of babies, they all walked at different ages. There is no magic time that you can say, "That's when they have to stand up and walk".

I bought one of those doorway bouncers for my son and it helped to strengthen his legs. He's now 15 months and walks everywhere. You should also try playing "the chasing game" while your baby is in the walker. It'll distract the fact that she's the walker. All in all, just give it time. She'll walk when she's ready.

With both of my kids, I bought one of those push walkers. They loved them and realized that they could actually get around faster. They also would use the doll strollers to hold on to and push around.

It would be helpful if you told how old your child is. If she isn't ready, you mustn' force her.
