Are you trying to make a mockery of our understanding of the world.

2006-07-12 11:22:30 · update #1

I don't tend to tell Theists there is no God I tell them I don't share their belief in God... there is a subtle but important difference...still I know Atheists follow their own rules... I can only speak for myself.

I do offended... but I'm trying to figure out if offense is indeed your aim, from the replies here it wpould seem offense is certainly intended.

You know, I've tried to tell those dumb atheists that there's a god over and over and over again. I even read it out of the bible and they wouldn't believe me! You can never get through to them. I just don't understand.

Atheists are practicing just as much of a religion in their lack of belief as Theists are. It is just another set of beliefs about something vague and incalculable, beliefs that will never truly be confirmed or denied (Don't start about the "rapture". At that point there would no longer be such a thing as faith in god. It would make his existence fact)

The point of a religion is to answer the questions that can't be answered to help keep the well-developed, self-aware human mind at peace.

The point of an organized religion is to make other people believe in your religion through well worded doctrine and well researched advertisement.

You are offended because you are religious and feel you're being tempted away from your own "church" of beliefs you obviously feel strongly about. They are offended for the same reason.

How to solve the problem? Think out your own answers. You do or don't believe in God? Fine. Do you know why? Have you though about it or just eaten up everything your family/friends/authority figures have fed you?

Even in the bible, it was never meant for any one man to be placed in front of another in the eyes of God. So what the hell are priests?

And Atheists, if you don't want to believe and become involved with a relationship with God, then why are you so concerned about someone else's? Why do you even acknowledge it's existence?

Think for yourself, people.

I don't see much of a difference between theists telling atheists there is a god and atheists telling theists there isn't.

If a good reason to find a certain view true is not included with the claim then it's just people saying what they think is true. It would be nice if both sides could be a little less preachy. I've never seen more preachy atheists than what exist on yahoo answers.

Both sides need to stop making a mockery of eachothers view and be RESPECTFUL of one another's desicions.

Why do you all of care so much about what someone else believes, anyways? It's their life.

Both sides try to spread their word to an unwelcoming batch, which NEVER works.

Atheists and religous Xtians are the most self-rightous ppl out there. No one can tell a self-rightous person to stop pushing their beliefs on others, be you athiest or Xtian.

You are ALL obnoxious in your own right.

Leave eachother alone. You can't help an athiest be saved as much as you can help a Xtian see the bleak truth.

Besides, the bickering is annoying. Just end it already, all of you.

You tell us we're being offensive by saying God exists. We're only stating the truth.
However, athiests seem to go far beyond the stretch of being offensive. Not only do you bash, criticize, and belittle us and God...you also you whatever you can to control the world and rid it of anything and everything that has to do to Him. Examples: Taking the Ten Commandments out of the courtroom centuries ago, trying to take down any of our monuments of the Ten Commandments, telling people that we can't say Merry Christmas (on Christmas!!!!! It has to be Happy Holidays), and anything else you can think of to take offense to. You say we're being offensive by believing what we believe and not trying to hide it. You're being offensive by saying we can't openly believe what we believe because you don't believe the same thing. Great job on controling our Freedom of Speech. It's kind of sad that a country which was founded on God and vowed to provide ALL its people with specific freedoms has suddenly allowed you all to reign and control every aspect of religion. Way to go. Now we're one step closer to becoming a second Iraq. But you don't care as long as you get what you want.
Do what you will to me...say what you want. I don't really care. What bothers me is people saying horrible things about God and even saying He doesn't exist when there's clear evidence that He does. How in the world could so many different people from so many different eras write the same things in their books unless it really was inspired by God?

Saying there is a God or saying there isn't a God. There both going to offend someone. Its when you start pointing fingers and blaming people for being offensive when they stand up for what they believe whether it be a God or No God. That's when you are in the wrong. So stop worrying what other people say or believe just worry for yourself.

I doubt that they are intentionally seeking to offend you--they're really just trying to get their message out.

Personally, I think that the whole "thrust one's own beliefs on another" thing is completely wrong. I get crap from the in-Christian version (I live in the South--thusly, being a Catholic is right next to worshiping Satan).

If I want to believe in God and the whole thing, then that's my business, and I would have no right to throw it to you. People should just keep out of other people's business.

My Dear Child,
Of course, you do realize that this is a two-edged sword?
You surely understand by this time that someone who has a dedicated faith in God is offended when told that he is stupid, retarded, or just plain childish?
Did you notice that you are in the Religion & Spirituality forum of Y/A?
Did you ask this question to be deliberately offensive? Do you think you are being witty? Or, are you, perhaps, stupid, retarded, or childish?
Love,
A Christian Friend

Nature of the beast, people like to argue to make you see their point of view, can't stop it. Atheists do it just as much as Christians on here, I've seen it many times ............. Come to think of it, the only religion I never see on here arguing about this are the Jewish.......... Makes you wonder who's sure of their beliefs doesn't it?

A true Christian won't scream fire and brimstone at you, a true Christian will give you info (mainly because it is their duty to at least make people aware) then leave you alone to do as you will. God won't take away your free will, people shouldn't try to take it either

Just a thought

Relax Earth Angel. The fact you are offended perhaps reveals that you are not contented with your beliefs. My advice is to take a walk on the beach by yourself at sunset and search your soul and listen to what it's telling you. You know the truth.

Peace brother!
