When anthropologists look into the roots of religion in order to determine why religions start, they usually publish statements that suggest that people seek a form of imortality. The most attractive and successful religions offer some form of that, either by promising a path to rebirth, or an afterlife.
Considering your question, I think of this. If I had no loved ones that I wished to see in that "afterlife," would the promise of the afterlife be enough to embrace that religion? I have to make a hypothetical stretch, but I could believe in that, I would welcome the chance.
I know of "believers" who know they will not be reunited with loved ones, because they are convinced that their lives have been so badly spent, they expect to go straight to Hell.

Religion isn't all about reuniting with loved ones, so I believe yes, there would be religion.

When You know that You have found the origin of life ("God", if You want to give it a name) then You will be aware that You are a spiritual working molecule of the origin of life. Not more, not less.
"Love", what we think it is has nothing to do with the origin of life. It is only that love many times is an emotion, and there are no emotions involved with the origin, only logic. It is like going back home, after You die. What will happen after coming back home, we should not speculate but be happy to have arrived there. leymemphis@yahoo.com.mx hope to hear from You!

I don't think religion is just about being re-united with our loved ones, I think it's about finding some sense of belonging and freedom from the traumas of the world, so yes, I think we would still need to have religion.
