I have been giving my kids fish & chciken(the only kind of meat that we cook at home)right from the time they started eating solids.(around 6 months of age)Both my kids have not had any allergy problems so it was fine.if your child doesn't have allergies to any food item, you can start giving them fish when you are ready.

Our daugther was not even 2 years when she started to eat sushi. With this, I mean Norwegian salmon on sushi rice. She loves it and demands it often, uptil twice a week.
We do not distinguish between the sushi restaurants/takeaways in Oslo. We consider all of them to be equally safe. Shocking? No. We live in Norway where there is almost no parasites or poison in the salmon, but I do not know the situation for rest of the world.
The fish is frozen before it is used as sushi. There have been no reactions whatsoever by other parents/responsible persons.
Our daughther also started to eat coocked/fried fish before she was 18 months. We consider there to be no risks eating fish early. Almost all fish we prepare for our little lady has been frozen until we prepare it.

FYI- I am not sure about the age but I do know something else you should look into once you start to feed your child fish....you need to also find out about the quantity your child can eat in one month's time according to proportion....to much fish can be a bad thing, my son loves when I make tuna fish but I only do this once in a while, otherwise he would eat it all the time, I can recall my pediatrition telling me something about to much fish is not a good thing for a child

Children should be able to eat fish after 1 year. I would avoid shellfish however since it is a highly allergic food. My kids will not eat fish unless it is fish sticks or crab cakes. Good luck to you-fish is such a great food, but it seems to be an acquired taste.

My son's doctor told me to wait until he was 15 months, and he was almost 3 months early so for a baby that was not a preemie around age 1 if no family history of seafood allergies,

your daugher can have fish. It's actually very healthy for anyone. But you should definitely not give her any shell fish until she is 3 years old. It has been proven that if you give your child shellfish that they can possibly...and I said possibly..become allergice to it and develop an allergy to shellfish.
Ofcourse please ask your pediatrician. You better be safe that sorry!
