It's a cat's normal and natural behavior to do this; mine do it often.
The best thing to do is to praise the cat. It's not as if we're running out of squirrels.

Cats as part of their instinct, like to kill and drag the dead animal (or it's parts ) to the front door to show you what they've done. My friend had a cat that would kill rabbits and her cat dragged it from the front door to the back door. It looked like a massacre.

Cats take a heavy toll on wildlife, you can put a bell on you pets collar and see if that helps. The critters he or she is chasing will hopefully hear him coming.

Alot of animals will do this i think they do this because they think you deserve some of it or something but i have heard alot of stories about this. Its like they are leaving you a present.
