The human mind is a complicated thing. It can relieve various symptoms based on faith in something. And while placebos and God can be objects of this faith. Faith in God has been known to do miraculous things. Reports of curing various forms of cancer to patients that doctors had given up on coming back from severe ailments and inflections.
While placebos in the past have temporarily halted symptoms of various degrees. Faith in the placebo is based on ones faith in your doctor and belief in his medicines. Being that the doctor is human and can make errors, this faith is fragile at best. Take hypochondriacs who often require constant reassurance, sometimes from multiple doctors.
On the flip side God is a higher power to many, that is infallible. When faith in God doesn't work its never God's fault. its his will or your faith wasn't strong enough. When a sickness is chronic doctors have told patients and family that prayer can't hurt. but never have they resorted to use of placebos at this stage. Could a placebo work if a doctor assured the patient of its abliity to cure. I don't know.
Do know that its really based on your own personal belief system. If you have a profound trust and belief in the medical profession or if its one of a more spiritual nature. Neither will work without faith.

Not sure what you mean. Oh yeah, that's right, opiate of the masses routine...anyway, if you told people that placebos were antibiotics you might be in business for a while, but after a few years your customer base would go away. A few thousand years and perhaps you have actual substance in your product.

I walked a mile with pleasure
She chatted all the way
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say
I walked a mile with sorrow
And ne'er a word said she
But oh, the things I learned from her
When sorrow walked with me
There is nothing warm and fuzzy about following God. If you think being a true disciple of Jesus Christ is easy, I challenge you to make Him the Lord of your life today.
If you do, and you're sincere about it, I hope you're tough.

You would need to do a double blind test to decide that but it's not possible as the existence or non-existence of a God effect is unfalsifiable.

The only evidence is the fact that there is no evidence to support any miracle, ever, even though many have been claimed.

You can't know, because there is no god to use in a test.
