I personally do, but talk to many people who think it is a load of BS. What do you think?

And Eli Whitney? The cotton gin - the old paradigm was having slaves pull the seeds from the cotton and no one had made a machine to do that. But he saw a cat snagging something through a picket fence and reversed the process. His gin pulled the cotton fibers off the cotton flower which was retained by slats.

We're talking about biomimicry, as in "the application of methods and systems found in nature to the study and design of engineering systems and modern technology"?

It's quite clear that it happens and that it's a good strategy.
A perfect example is velcro; the man who invented velcro did so after seeing how the seeds from a certain type of plant stuck to his clothing.

I think it's a good strategy. We already found that whatever we build kills so taking it from the experts helps.
