It is commonly understood as a group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object (real or imagined), person (real or imagined), or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system"[1] In the course of the development of religion, it has taken many forms in various cultures and individuals.
Occasionally, the word "religion" is used in the more restrictive sense of "organized religion" — that is, an organization of people supporting the exercise of some religion, often taking the form of a legal entity

Religion, broadly defined, is the performance of ritual. What most people think of is "organized" religion, i.e, Catholicism, Judaism, Protestantism, Buddhism, etc. But if you don't feel good unless you do the same things at the same time every day, you are religious all the same, even if you don't belong to an organized religion or church. (This outdoes the dictionary, because it includes some explanation.)

The Bible itself gives us the definition of pure religion.
James 1:27 states the following.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Forget religion.
Christ is the path of salvation.
Christ is the truth of God's Word.
Christ is the life eternal.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Christ is the tree of life.
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Dictionary.com lists religion as being a human condition. I can only hope that one day that there will be a cure. Otherwise, now that the Middle East is refining Uranium, religion will be the end of us all!!!

Anything done in a repetitive manner. You can religiously floss your teeth, or vacuum your carpet, etc. The definition of religion doesn't necessarily have to relate to anything spiritual.
