the problem is he can only stay over here for 3 months then he wants to go back due to family issues. so i am not worried about him trying to pull a fast one. so where do i go to get these papers.

He wants residency, not a visit. Once he has that, it is a step in the door with you holding the door and responsible for letting him in.

Be aware that there is an amazing push of Islamic militants to find "friends" in the U.S.A. to let them come stay.

Say no, "It is better if you apply for imigration the normal way. I'm afraid I don't know you THAT well."

If he blows off the friendship, tell him that's fine. He set the price of the friendship, you didn't. If he stays friendly, get to know him for a couple of years, then bring up the subject yourself after a visit or two (you to him, or him to you).

Follow your instincts, not your guilt.

Sounds like he isn't really a friend at all. I think he just wants papers. I have never heard of "invite" papers. If he wants a tourist visa he needs to get his own. Tell him to go to the American embassy in his country for info. So invite the guy already, don't look at me I'm not going to, I don't even know the guy.

It's called a Guest Visa.

But---- I'd pass on that....the whole thing smells like he's wanting to just use you to get here.
