What you said is indeed mentioned in bukhari but there are other sayings of the Prophet that indicate that she was much older. The credibility of the narrators who are a father in his son are questionable because they lived in Iraq away from Aisha's community so they could be wrong. Muslim scholars have debated this topic and all agree that she was young but other sayings in bukhari and Muslim hint that she was at least 15 when she got married.

Was Mohammed a pedophile?..No he wasn't he married first wife when he was 25 and she was 40. He remained married to her (25 yrs)until she died and had all his children from her. As Aisha, she had a suitor before the Prophet so he wasn't the first to propose. Her marriage welcomed and Aisha was very happy with it. He father as well. She was the youngest of his wives and the many of his wives were widows, lack in looks, and had kids. His opponents he lived alongside didn't have a problem with his marriage either. Although they were very critical and outspoken of him. So, it was accepted 1400 yrs ago. Islamically, one has to reach puberty to get married but we also need to respect and follow the laws of the country we live in.

I agree with tls, it is common that time as 9 yrs old of that time does not look like 9 yrs old today plus, even today this phisiological changes that appear when shifting from childhood to adulthood took place in defferent ages some at the age of 10 eleven mainly in arabian countries, some others can be late till they are 16 or between this two extreems. additionally, a pedofile will always look for children and never be satisfied but in mohammed case he mary other wives that are older enough his first wife was 40 while he was 25 .

The question makes a modern judgment on what is perceived to be ancient history. Is it really fair to put our modern morals on the past or should it be looked at in the scope of its own society and morals. Or are we merely seeing an influx of this particular question because it deals with the Islamic faith?

No one asks about King Tuts marriage. In ancient Egypt the Pharaoh was considered the living incarnation of the Sun God Ra and therefore had demigod status. King Tut was married at age 9 to his older half sister Ankhesenpaaten whose exact age was not known but seeing as it has been speculated that she had already had a child by her father Ikhnaton that she was of child bearing age. King Tut had two daughters who both died as infants with his older wife.

We do not see anyone up in arms over that. Nor do we see them up in arms over the arranged royal marriages over the centuries which usually paired a very young girl with an older prince or monarch.

History is what it is. It cannot be changed and it can't be judged by modern standards. I do not promote pedophilia; anyone guilty of it in our society should be appropriately punished. But remember there is a vast difference in society and social norms in the years 1500 BCE, 50 ACE or 2006 ACE.

Muhammed was a true messenger of God like Jesus, adam and moses.
Scientifically it has been proved that having sex with a girl who is matured ( physically ) is safe and nothing is wrong in it.
sorry to say that but even Jesus is blamed of having adultery and a bastard child .
Marriage is pure relationship and that was between those two ie Muhammed and Aisha . got it ?

Have you anything to say about David's 6000 concubines?

How about the man in the bible that offers his daughter for sex to a crowd of men, just to be left alone?

or are you quote-mining someone else's religious texts in an intolerant, hateful attempt to childishly score some points?

I think I know the answer.

Uh... she was 16.

Not something we would consider normal by Western standards, but sure in the hell is a lot better than 6 years old.
