Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the light. God lied when he said to Adam that if he ate from the tree of knowledge he would die. It was the Serpent who was truthful and told them what the fruit would do. He opened their eyes to good and evil. So was the Serpent really the evil one or was he maybe Jesus instead?

Boss Brat: Before you answer these 'dumb questions' maybe you should brush up on your genesis. See, because if Adam and Eve were immortal why would god block the way to the tree of Life? It is only an assumption that they were immortal beforehand.
Remember what they say about assumptions.

djshyc: You're a poor bible scholar. Read.
Genesis 3:4
"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Genesis 3:22
22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

First, let's consider the name of the tree - "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil". God told Adam that if he ate the fruit of this tree he would surely die. And, is Adam alive today? No. God did not lie - Adam did die. But, there is more. God knew that if Adam ate the fruit he would become like God, "knowing good and evil". Hebrew is a very subjective language. Pinpointing it's exact intended meaning is difficult. But, assuming that the Jews did know Hebrew, take a look into the Septuigent. The word used for "know" is from the Greek word "ginosko". This word means to know, but it is a certain characteristic of knowledge. It is a knowledge gained through experiance. This is the same word used when Mary replied to the angel, "How can this be since I know no man".
If you continue to read and think on the Bible, it becomes evident that when God told Adam that he would "surly die" if he ate that fruit, He was refering to a spiritual as well as a physical death. You will also learn from a thoughtful study of the Bible that God is more concerned with the spiritual than the physical - The spiritual is forever, the physical is only temporal.
This death is a separation. In the spiritual, Adam was seperated from God because of his sin. He disobeyed God and knew that he was unworthy of being in God's presence. God also withdrew from Adam.
The physical death is a seperation also. It is a seperation of the body and soul. Both of these seperations were the result of that sin.
So we see that God did tell the truth.
The serpent was not truthful. He told Eve that she would not surely die and that God was withholding good from them because God knew that if they ate the fruit they would become like God. The serpent was right as far as he went, but he failed to explain that this did not include all the attributes of God. They would not become omnicient or omnipotent. They would simply know good and evil. Is it ever good to experiance the loss of a leg? Is it ever good to experiance the crushing blow of a hammer as it falls down forcefully upon your head? Not all experiances are good and God knows that. He tried to keep man from experianceing evil, but His character did not allow Him to create a world where man had no choice.
Let us also consider Jam 1:13. "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" This applies to Jesus because if you carefully read the Bible you will learn that Jesus "and the Father are one". Jesus is God and He cannot tempt anyone to sin.

God didnt lie to adam by the way--- just to clear this up with christians and non believers alike--- the tree of knowledge is exactly that knowledge, this meant that adam would now know emotions like pain and all that great stuff. In short he would become like god, minus the living eternally part. God was right, Adam died, he isnt here anymore.
Far as the serpent thing goes, its a story, and we (the people who actually acknowledge the fact Genesis isnt meant for a literal purpose) claim it is the introduction of evil, thus the polarizing god and satan as good vs evil
Evil won round two.

The Bible doesn't say whether Adam & Eve were immortal (of course, the Xtians are gonna say they were until the whole fruit tree incident to try and make their myth believable) but, my ques. is, if they didn't know good from evil, how did Eve know God was making a threat? Would she even be able tocome to the conclusion that dying was a 'bad' thing?

God does not lie. Adam would have lived forever if he had done as God told him. Instead, he ate the fruit and he died. If that were not the case, you could go over to his house and visit him today. You know, you kids really need to find something better to do than make up dumb questions like this one.

MY Question to you is... DID ADAM DIE ???? Yes he Did...
So I guess God did'nt lie huh??!!!
Also Satan said they would become like Gods unto themselves.. Did that happen ??? I dont think so or else they prolly would not have died.. Right??
You have to look into what yor reading a little better and not be bias causing you to come up with completely out of whack ideas....
I dont see where your idea of the serpent being Jesus comes into play here at all !!!
I never read anything to that effect in the Holy Christian Bible or in Satans Bible either so IDK where this idea comes in...
Jesus is against everything Satan stands for.....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What Reason would God Create us and then have Jesus get people to turn from Him????
There still is no clear explanation from YOU as to why you would think The Serpent is Jesus!!! ???? My statement that God did not lie has been proven by ----------- YOU ---------------------..
Genesis 3:22
22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."
So I guess he did not lie..... Adam died and so will you and I , and everyone will die Physically.
Also scripture states that Jesus and God are one in mind...... (Not in those Exact words)........
So I would say that if the Serpent was Jesus the Serpent probably wouldnt contradict the Lord.........
IDK What your purpose in posting this Question/Comment is. Because appearently you do believe in the exsistance of God and Jesus..... Therefore the next step for you would be to have FAITH ! We are all promised that if we follow with faith, the truth and the light will be shown unto us and our eyes will be opened!
Matthew 17:20
"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. "
Living according to the words of the bible and with Faith I have experience the truth of this particular scripture First Hand and there literally is nothing that is impossible for me to achieve in my life!
Good Luck with finding the truth you seek.. And God Bless.

Silly boy, God told the truth. He gave them all the other herbs and plants to choose from. He told them they would die if they ate of the tree in the mist of the garden. Satan is and will always be the father of lies. The first lie was in that garden. " You will surely not die" was his first of many. God said the penalty for sin is death. What is sin you might wonder? Sin is defined as the transgression of Gods law. The penalty for sin is death.

Personally, I think anyone that tells the truth, no matter how hard it may be to hear, is good. Anyone that lies is evil.
In this light, Jesus and the Serpent need second opinions.

When God told Adam he would surely die, he was talking about spiritually.... plus, I'm sure there is the possibility that Adam and Eve would have been imortal, and because of their sin they did eventually die. But, the death God spoke of was spiritual, not physical.

This quest. can be answered in many ways. I believe that all of it was and still is God. Only the master can control what he creats. Meaning he created the serpant so he controls the serpant, he also created man so he also controls man although we have free will. Some of the choices that we make is base on God playing on our intentions to see where our faith lies.

That "God" character seems like a tyrant. The serpent character was offering freedom.
