We just spent two days in London before a cruise in May of this year. First, its expensive there for food, hotels and everything else. We found the people to be very friendly and helpful, especially in the hotels and restaurants. Other than them driving on the wrong side of the street and having a few other things unique to England, you would not know that you are not in America. They speak English, although with that British accent.
One thing that we found very funny was the habit of Brits to "go have a pint" after work (like going to happy hour) but they will stand outside the bar or restaurant with their beer. And I mean a whole bunch of them and sometimes if there is not enough room in front of the bar, they will stand across the street from it. This is no lie; they will socialize with that pint anywhere.

yes i was there last year.
i would think it depends on where you are going in England, as in big cities or small rural areas. i visited both. people were friendly where ever i went - though rural areas were moreso and the pace was much slower. they speak english as a first language - a plus when in a foriegn country.
transportation is easily obtainable in all forms.
foods are also much the same so you'll not be lacking for something to eat or be afraid to eat it.
it is different from america in that heavy accents are abundant.
it is much much older and therefore rich with history everywhere you turn.
american money is only worth half as much as theirs. (remember this when planning for expenses)
lots of quaint villages and amazing churches/cathedrals/castles/abbeys
they drive on the opposite side of the road and rural roads are sometimes very narrow. (don't rent a large vehicle)
speed limits are not generally posted and go by the height of the streetlamps. the lower they are the lower your speed.
if you're thinking about going do so. you'll not regret it. the differences are what makes me long to return.

I lived in England for 20 years, there are a lot of similarities.
There is more of a relaxed atmosphere and the humor there is fantastic.
Save up, because it is very expensive especially eating out.
London is fantastic, there is a lot of fascinating history in every corner of the country.
Take walking shoes, you can walk around most of the big tourist stuff in the center of London in a couple of days.
Get a one-day travelcard and you can ride any bus, train or subway(tube) within the city all day for no extra cost. Transport is much better there you dont need a car most places.

Is New York different from East Podunk Idaho?
Is Hawaii different from San Francisco?
England is a beautiful country. Their transportation system beats the devil out of anything in our country. Trains/Buses/Subways..etc...
There are a lot of Pakistan people living in London (just like New York)
Great theater, museums, etc.
No different than a combo of our cities, towns...etc...

No. They do drive on the left side of the road which can be disconcerting. Outside of the cities, the landscape looks like it could be part of the US. The architecture is different and it is a much older country than ours. It is lovely.
