the mystery of existence will always be there, seemingly resolved when one has an enlightenment experience (where the person experiences themselves no longer as an individual but as everything -- and the self is seen as illusory & there's complete identification w/ That which always is -- which is Us ... gotta experience it, can't describe it). Jesus, then, can be a symbol for that, given that he experienced enlightenment (like the Buddha) and thus became the 'Christ' (no longer identified w/ the illusory individual self). If Jesus is used in this way, the symbol of him becomes a useful mythological tool for getting us to the same experience; otherwise, it's used to keep us mired in the problem: where we think we're these separate selves that are born, live, die, etc.

Even some of the most absurd stories have some kinda factual source, Early man passed down stories by word of mouth for generations and generations, Stories were condensed and as people moved and learned new language some of the names changed. But even Noah's ark probably has a real boat in it somewhere. You know we just can't prove it BUT on the other hand we can't disprove it....... Some how the world changed very quickly (almost overnite) and something or someone caused it. I believe there is truth to it..... I can't place it in a match box but I know it's there. Sort out all the lies and half truths and maybe someone did do miracles and was raised from the dead....

I'm sure the story of Jesus is not a myth. Maybe modern man is the real myth.

Depending on your definition of "modern man," there is no doubt that The Bible from which he was immortalized was man-made. In terms of Jesus, I do think that he is a man-made myth because such feats as walking on water is not physically possible.

Yes, but the myth is truly ancient. We have extant texts from the early 3rd century

Quite possibly. We have yet to find empirical proof that he existed and was the man the bible says he was.
