No, prayer doesnt work.

Try this experiment - pray to Jesus that He cures the cancer of everyone on earth. It wont happen. Or, pray that he reanimates the limbs of an amputee. Still, aint gonna happen, no matter how much you believe.

When prayers are answered, it is called a coincidence. You have cancer, are undergoing chemotherapy and praying and the cancer goes into remission - was it God or was it the chemotherapy?? Also, if you check CNN.com, there was an article last month that proved prayer didnt work. Group of docotors conducted an experiment on open heart surgery patients. Turns out, those that prayed actually had a slightly HIGHER percentage of complications than those who did no praying at all!

I do not make wishes - I do pray and all of my prayers have been answered and no the answer has never been no but then I do not pray to be selfish. I pray for wisdom and knowledge only so I can help others. I pray for a clear path so I become strong for my purpose. I pray for all my human brothers and sisters which would be everyone for them to be healthy and happy and not feel lost within the world. I pray for Gods will above all. when I was younger I prayed for selfish things which also came to be although not so much how I visioned them but were answered and I got what I asked for. for example I asked to be removed out of a bad situation that I felt I was at the end of my rope. next day I was removed but in doing so I was placed in a different and not so much better situation but I came to understand why and it came to me like a flash that I should not pray for something selfish because what I want may not be what I need. I have a friend who prayed for a new truck in which he got but to get this new truck his was in an accident which took his wife and sister's life - his pray was answered but what did he gain by getting his desire. Truck never felt right and now he refuses to drive.

If you're praying to a genie, then you have 3 wishes standard. For most everyone else if you are praying to God bigger than yourself, then you are trusting God to answer you in His way (which might actually be no, just like a whole diet of candy is bad for a person, so are sometimes certain sweet circumstances). But a benevolent God who has your best interests in mind will help you solve your problem even though you may not understand it at that time.

Lol... I like the idea that prayers and wishes are the same thing. I've always had a motto: "A wish is simply a prayer to a nameless god."

I personally don't see prayer as being very beneficial in any way that meditation wouldn't help you more. All in all, it is better to do something yourself to ensure that the result you seek comes about rather than leaving it up to an entity whose existence cannot truly be proven nor refuted.

first praying is not wishing. praying is talking to God, or at least it should be. unfortunately too many people forget that there is a real person on the other end of that conversation and sometimes he might just like you to say hello and ask him how he's doing.
if you choose to pray and ask him for something you have to remember that he might say no depending on his supreme will. and believe me when he tells u no it can really suck.
BUT I do have faith that God will answer my prayers what ever that answer is, well that's something entirely different

A wish is not a prayer, and a prayer is not a wish. When you're praying, you are talking to God. When you are wishing, then you are "wishing" for something.
Prayers do not "come true", but sometimes prayers are answered if it is God's will. And yes, I've had prayers answered, and I've had a few "miracles."

Are you praying for something or wishing for something...God does answer prayers in His time, not ours.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

And yes...God has answered my prayers.

I think it's funny that Christians think that if they pray they "wish" will come true!!!

How funny...praying is not a genie in a bottle!!!

HAHAHHA

How ridiculous

Not necessarily. If my children ask me for something I first decide if they need it, if it is good for them, and if I feel they should have it. Often I disagree with their choice. What type of Parent would give a child everything he asks for even if it was bad for them? God is a good and just Father and He gives what you need not what you think you should have.

Peace of Christ,
Debra
