The water cycle. Water falls in the form of rain over the mountains and plains. It flows to the rivers and finally to the ocean. In the ocean the sun evaporates the water and it returns over the land but during the process of flowing to the ocean the water disolved salts and minerals which stay in the ocean. So over the years the ocean just keeps getting more salty.
