I cook at home and I am looking for some different ideas for boring ingredients. What can you do with the same old stuff like hambuger, hot dogs, bread, cheese, noodles, etc, and with a quick trip to the grocery, make something different and nice for dinner?

Chop up carrots, celery, onions and a little bit of cabbage, throw in a little chicken broth and soy or oyster sauce and some cooked spaghetti...Lo Mein Noodles!

Slice hot dogs lengthwise into little strips, boil them and make "worm sandwiches" (Little kids won't eat them but teenagers think they're fear factor food.)

Toast and butter half a loaf of bread chop it up and add two eggs and a cup of milk (whipped together) with a little vanilla bake it for 1/2 hour for bread pudding that people will think you bought. (I add a teaspoon of whiskey for Aussie pudding)

1/2 stick of butter a tablespoon of flour cooked to nearly boiling add some milk slowly and then a few slices of cheese for a cheese sauce that tastes great on green beans, eggs, tortilla chips (add a little salsa), or rice (saute onions in the butter before adding the flour and you'll have a cheesy rice that will have people asking for the recipe)

Boiled noodles placed in a roiund covered greased pan and baked for 15 minutes makes a cool "pie crust" that you can top with spaghetti sauce (heavy on the meat) chicken and cheese sauce, or chopped veggies in alfredo for gourmet noodle pie. Cool a little before slicing and it will come out of the pan like pie.

All of these things are really inexpensive so you can experiment with them without going broke.

This is a tough question because I love to cook and can make ANYTHING ordinary yummy and delicious!

Bread and eggs -- FRENCH TOAST! Add a pinch of cinnamon and sugar, and it's delicious. Served with jam or syrup.

Hotdogs -- CHILI DOGS! A can of chili, or homemade chili, some grated cheese. YUMMY.

I "doctor" all my food with spices, onions, celery, nuts, fruit.

Tuna fish -- a little onion, a little celery, or apple, mayo, chopped walnut . . . served on Health Nut (Oroweat brand) bread! Delicious!

The best thing to do is start reading recipes, and trying out new things. Then when you are comfortable with following the recipes, you'll be comfortable tossing stuff together -- this is how I cook. Everyone thinks I cook "fancy" but I don't. Just simple, home cooking with a twist.

Pancakes topped with a little caramelized sugar, with some chopped hazelnuts ... better then syrup.

Pasta and rice are FUN foods to play with.

And potatoes -- so many things you can do with them. A simple meat dinner can come alive with a nice side of pasta, rice or potatoes (the starch).

Steamed carrots, put a little brown sugar, butter and walnuts to them -- GREAT! (I said a little, don't drown them).

Watch TV cooking shows. Read recipes and have fun!!

Why do you like the oven to cook dinner? Get some Hamburger Helper and make it speedy. they have all kinds of stuff. All you're able to desire to is brown the beef; 10 minutes tops. i could think of grilling out interior the nice and comfortable temps could be worse.
