did you have your baby out of a hospital???? What was it like? did it "just"happen or was the birth planned?

did you have your baby in a car on the side of the road?? did you decide to have the baby at home??? what was your strange circumstance for delivery??? im curious about how your experience of having a baby outside of the "sterile" hospital enviornment was like.... do you regret not having your child in a hosptial??? please tell me everything!!!
or do you know of a story of someone else's delivery outside of a hospital...

I had both of my children in a hospital but I have heard two stories about women who didn't.

The first woman actually made it to the hospital parking lot, but couldn't get out of the car so the baby was born on the front seat of the car. She worked in my husband's office and everyone took up a collection to have her car detailed! Not sure how you clean up that mess. . .

The second is that the daughter-in-law of my OB nurse had her second baby at home in her hot tub (with the temp turned down). My nurse wasn't exactly thrilled with her daughter-in-law's decision, but everything turned out fine.

I had my first in a hospital with a doc, 2nd in a freestanding birth center with a MW and third at home with a MW. If I could do it all over, I'd have had them all at home with a MW. it was a wonderful experience. Very relaxed and actually even kinda romantic afterwards with the 3 of us cuddled up together in front of a fire. :)
