Give us your week, your tired and your weary...Give us your poor, your oppressed, and the spiritually dampened. Give us those who deserve what they should have, freedom.

Why do all of you miss the point. All of you are immigrants from Southern Europe, mostly Spain and France. Your forefathers came over here two to three hundred years ago and Colonized Mexico. They intermarried with the Indians and created the Race now known as Mexicans. They chose Spanish as the common language.
The immigrants to the US came from mostly Northern Europe, mostly England, Ireland, Germany, and France. They stayed separate from the American Indian and became known as Americans. They chose English as the common language.
In the late 1800's the US and Mexico had a few territorial squabbles and Mexico ceded a tract of land along what is now the US border and the dispute was settled. Every country on earth has had these territorial battles in the past. We cannot go backwards and right all of the injustices that were part of history. We must learn to get along and establishing laws and rules of conduct are the beginning. If one side ignores the laws, than there is an imbalance. That is where we are now. A huge imbalance of people fleeing an oppressive backwards government for a perceived better life in the US. But they are breaking the laws of the US while doing it. That is the whole issue.

I don't see a question here. What are you trying to ask? Yes, we are a nation of immigrants and who says anything about not liking it? If my gradparents didn't immigrate I'd have lived in communist eastern Europe during the 50's, 60,s 70,s and 80's. I love the United states and all it stands for but I don't get what question you are asking? Remember though a nation must protect it's borders and illegals should be stopped from coming in. Go through the proper channels to enter this wonderful country and we'll be welcomed with open arms. God bless the United States of America and all of its immigrants and their ancestors.

I am not a immigrant, I was born here. Your statement is tired and not effective. My great great grandparents immigrated here over a hundred years ago. And they did it legally, learned to speak English, were proud to wave the American flag, farmed this country never got a free pass on anything. Which is way more than I can say about the people illegally coming across the border from the south.

If, i were to commit a felony, the government would not hesitate to through me in a federal prison. But what the government does is take ILLEGAL CRIMINALS and shelter them. They do not get punished for ANYTHING. They dont have to pay takes, they get FREE social security, FREE welfare, FREE everything. They have no respect for the laws that we have set down, Example is Mexican contractors working w/o a license or permit. THey push the envelope. Why dont we all just cross the boreder to Mexico, stay there for a week or two, come back over as ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTs and get everything FREE?? If you want to live in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, then you need to show yourself to be a responisble, respectable citizen.

We are not a country of immigrants. Of all people living and dead, 14% were immigrants and 84% were CITIZENS.

It's amazing how the lie to get you to do what they want.

You are correct in that we are a country of immigrants, LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Did your minuscule little mind catch the legal part.

The problem is that the criminal illegal aliens are invading our beloved country, creating chaos, destroying neighborhoods and sapping off of our social services.

illegal aliens must go, and in your own words if you don't like it, can you get the heck out of the US

Yes, we are legal, n00b. My great grandpa was a German. He moved here from Russia in the early 20th century. He came LEGALLY, learned the language, GOT A JOB, didn't complain about the U.S., and then moved the rest of his family over, LEGALLY, and lived as an AMERICAN.

And when I'm old enough, I AM moving, to Switzerland, where there are NO illegal MEXICANOS raping us by taking our jobs and money. So shut up and get your citizenship or leave.

Here's the deal. Yeah, we are a country of immigrants and it is INSULTING to our forefathers to let illegals in. Our forefathers had to work VERY hard to become citizens, and so should everyone else who isn't born here (from citizen parents!).

HAHAHA...there are alot of people in this world who fill out papers and are waiting on an approval, some for 5 years, to come into our country. However its ok for Mexicans to jump the border, riot in the streets for amnesty and you think we should grant it. RIGHT! Follow the rules, fill out the paperwork (its in spanish too!) and wait for an approval to come over to our home.
