It basically means that if you behave yourself for a specified amount of time the charges will be dismissed. It usually occurs in minor offenses and/or people without prior arrests,the courts decide to adjourn(postpone) the prosecution of the charges for awhile and if you stay out out of trouble during that time the charges will be dismissed .
