Who prefers charcoal?
I've always believed the saying, that if you want to use gas,why stand out in the heat, just cook in your kitchen.Plus charcoal leaves a better taste.
Opinions?

Re: flavor: You can buy wood chips that can add flavor to foods cooked with gas. So, OK, thats not the same as naturally flavored foods, cooked over a good set of coals.

But there is a difference when an amateur tries to cook a larger piece of meat, like a brisket, or roast, or turkey. The difference is temperature control. Unless you are, or can learn to be an expert, don't even try to cook a good piece of meat over coals. I would rather go to Denny's and order their canned turkey than eat a badly prepared bird fixed by someone who does not know how to control the heat in a charcoal grill. Too dry, to burned, too raw! Just don't.

Gas grills are fun, easy to use and can make a great meal, from appetizers, to meat, to desert. It takes a really, really BAD cook to mess it up with gas.

It takes a real expert to do it up right with charcoal. Let me make it clear. I prefer a piece of meat done this way. It's just that there are not many people who know how to handle it.

IMO, charcoal will always be more suitable useful than gas because it provides you larger of a smoky flavor. Get some mesquite timber chips in touch, and that is even more suitable useful! gas is only a techniques more suitable reachable, so as it really is what maximum folk use. lots of the time i take advantage of gas, yet i will interrupt out the charcoal each sometimes if i favor a very sturdy steak.

Many feel gas can dry out the meat. I notice no difference. Gas allows more flexibility with cooking. I love beer-can chicken on the gas BBQ (tried it on charcoal and it came out black). It doesn't have to be beer and the meat has a different taste depending on what type of liquid you use. For me it's gas all the way.

Charcoal is more difficult, but leaves a better flavor. Gas is easier and quicker. For the best results, maybe use a gas grill outside and throw on some wet wood chips. This will help add flavor while being easy.

It depends on what is cooking for some odd reason. I think burgers over charcoal are better and steaks on gas are better. But that's just me!

In theory I prefer charcoal, but gas is sure easy to work with. You can make either work for you - so fire up whatever you've got.

If you're looking for a good taste, invest time in making a marinade and place the meat in it overnight in the fridge. Mmmmmmm....
