Knowing its a baby, she may be OK, with it, just be careful... Other wise, give them time to get used to each other, have them all spayed or neutered, (no hormone issues) and you'll have one big happy family!!

You need to keep the kitten separated from the mother cat. You can do this by different rooms, or putting the kitten in a kennel .But the important part is, they need to be able to smell each other first, so they can get used to one another. Watch the mama cat though any time you have them out together. Make sure you give mama cat love too or that will make her more jealous. I would also give the kitten it's own litter box for a while, that's a very territorial thing.

A formal introduction I feel is best. Say "Hi kitty A" this is kitty C. and so on... The cat is territorial it seems. It must be a female. If it smells another scent it can turn vicious. Kind of like the smell of cologne on the collar. Any way all you need to do is have supervised bonding time. Our cats rotate out and always seem to be replaced by another. My cat Demone (italian for demon) is very independent and doesn't take the others nonsense. It all depends on the cat. When you are home let it run free while you watch it. The older cat will eventually get over it. When you are gone seperate them. Give it a couple of months the territory dispute will be over soon enough... Hope this helps

If you have a litter box let the kitten get a bit of the mother cats urine on it .
don't feed the kitten and let it cry so momma cat hears it ,maybe instinct will take over .
leave them alone together momma will hiss at it a few times but unless it is a real mean cat they will make up in time .

Try having them in the same room, but separated, for short time periods, like, 5 minutes. If you are really going to keep this kitten, the other cat has to know that it isn't going anywhere. Be careful though, if your cats are outdoor cats, they may take off if the new one isn't accepted--though this is rather rare. You may just have one heck of a grumpy kitty!

In addition to the suggestions above, you might want to try getting this stuff called Feliway or Comfort Zone - they sell it at Petsmart and Petco. It comes in spray or plug-in. It's a scent (humans can't smell it) that calms cats and can reduce aggression. It's not a cure-all, but it might help.
