It is the result of years of pc (politically correct thinking). The majority of citizens in the United States speak english. Consequently english should be the national language. I am not against immigration when carried out in a legal form, I am however against illegal immigration. I do not have a problem with people speaking spanish, I took it myself when I was in school, however cultural assimilation is important to any society. I believe that if you speak spanish and you want to speak it with your friends no one should be allowed to tell you can't. Also I believe that if businesses wish to cater to spanish speaking people it is their right as private entities, but government business should be carried out in english. This includes what is taught in schools.
Jen - it is not racist to believe that laws should be obeyed, and just for the record the indians are not native to America they immigrated during the last iceage via a land bridge across the Bering Straits.

Because marketing professionals see the Latino dollar and how strong it can be, if they make their products and services more accessible. I thought it was a free country, doesn't that mean we can choose the language we want to speak in. I speak both, Spanish and English, but I think it would be unconstitutional to tell us we couldn't speak Spanish. Hey, Money speaks that's why you see and hear Spanish. Before this immigration issue that was/ is the untapped market, and companies realize that. Racist..

Why do you care if others speak spanish?
I like the diversity.
I like hearing different languages when I walk through the park or downtown.
I like watching soccer in Spanish on TV even though I can't understand much.

If a business can sell more junk by advertising in Spanish, they will...it's the American Way. If people are so offended and quit buying from them, they will quit using Spanish or any other foreign language.

Seriously, I don't mind important, health of life effecting issues like the location of a hospital, but it has gone way too far. Our DMV offers driving tests in Spanish even though you have to read English to drive, they even supply translators for the test answers.

Because money talks.
Advertisers put their advertising where and how their potential customers will be most likely to see and understand the ad and then run to the store to spend their cash on the products.
In business...there are no borders and the only color that matters is GREEN!!

America is supposed to be land of the free!!!! That applies to everyone! I hate racist people, and also if you are referring to the "illegals" then get a life. The Indians are not trying to kick all other races out, so leave it alone and get a life!

it is not arrogance to do what is right for your country. if you let as many people come in as possible, and let them change the language, the food, the homes, the families, the wages, the schools, the jobs, and eventually, the government, what do you have left?? You have a country which is no longer yours.
