Trust a vet. My dog used to get burrs in her paws. They'd work their way in and have to be removed. It's possible your dog has a similar problem. See your vet with this one. Every case is different, what worked for one dog in one situation may not work for another dog with a similar but different problem.

Arf luck.

My dog has that too.. it can get serious if you don't correct it... my dog did it since it was a puppy and now it has arthritis in it's paw. It starts as an itch.. then it grows into then just biting at it for nothing. It is a habitual issue. You can try hot sauce and nail biting polish.. but it will still do it anyway.. the only way to stop it is put a "doggie sock" on the effected paw and give a wack with some newspaper when they bite at it. Enough cracks (not to pummel it of course) it will learn not to bite it. if you don't stop it, it will develope into a real problem like my dog has. It actually altered the bone around its foot... it irreversable and it looks mutated.

Sounds like allergies to me. Try Benedryl in the meantime, but you should take him to a vet. They will know what to do to make him comfortable. Also, they have stuff called Yuk-too-y (not sure if I spelled that right) and Bitter Apple Spray at the vet's office. If you spray that on, the dog is not likely to lick b/c it tastes bad.

sounds like your puppy has an allergy. i don't know about the zinc but keep an eye on what your feeding him... start taking things out of his diet one at a time until you figure out what he's allergic to. my dog did this.

Your dog may have an allergy and that is driving him to lick his paw. Have you changed his diet?

Never use medication unless you know what the problem is. Take your dog to the vet.

Our dog licks one of her back feet, my husband says it's like a child sucking their thumb. He just tells her to quit and she does.

he prob has allergies like my dog. You should apply something like tripple anti-biotic, and use like an old sock or something and cover it loosely....but securing it... You may have to get him something like a cone to keep him from ripping the sock off ....
