GSDs are working dogs... you have to keep them busy so they stay out out of trouble. Use the ball to your advantage and do some other training with him ... the ball being the reward... IE ...you don't throw it until he sits... etc... the possibilities are limitless . He also needs lots of exercize ..(minimum one long walk a day) ... you might want to look into flyball... It is a dog sport!

Don't ask over the internet.. there are people that are wierd in the head... Any way you can take it outside and run with it. Give it some furniture to mangle. I don't know what a gsd is if it is a dog... try talking to it and wait for a response.
