Two men lie on the road shortly after they were shot by gunmen in Baghdad July 9, 2006.

Iraq is accelerating toward civil war. Over the weekend and on Monday, July 10, Baghdad witnessed the most savage outbreak of revenge killings to date. Shiite militiamen, who witnesses claimed were members of Muqtada Sadr's Mahdi Army, set up checkpoints in the city's al-Jihad neighborhood, inspected ID cards and killed 42 people they identified as being Sunnis. They also broke into homes and killed their inhabitants. Corpses were found in the street with drill holes and pierced by nails and bolts. What did the USA Militry do?? Nothing!! The Marines were too scared to do anything toward the insurgents.

this is one of those questions you cant answer without using metaphor. Think about dogs for a second. Now the pet dog is by no means free, it stays inside the house or in the yard. Does what its master says. The stray is free, but it sleeps out in the elements and doesnt know where its meals come from. Being kept has the advantage of safety and security. Always knowing you'll be fed and have a comfortable place to sleep. Being free the advantage of doing what you want. It is a balance of which one you feel you can tolerate sacrificing in place of the other.

The Marines are stationed in every neighborhood of every city in the country. The Iraqi government does have its own police force and military units. I notice you don't ask why they didn't do anything. I also notice you don't ask why the Iraqi citizens didn't do anything. It is a good bet that if the Coalition forces knew what was going on at the time they would have interviened. As a footnote, I find it amusing that someone who seems to believe the US military is too involved in Iraq could so easily turn around and criticize them for not watching over every citizen.

I can answer without metaphor - hey jerk wad - the Marines were not afraid but they were not in area of murders. The new military must start to handle some of this themselves. There will be growing pains as they learn how to take over for themselves.
You are clueless & looking to criticize the military whatever they do. Democrat, I am assuming! I see the lack of patriotism & lying will now will not help.

if we had the ability to do as we pleased, all of them would be dead. the iraqis now have the ability to move towards a civil war and it's been brewing for some time now. before, they would've been killed on the slightest whim. now, they are experiencing freedom firsthand. also, they are coming to know that freedom ain't free. all part of a process. think of the big picture and not what some article written by some loser reporter states.

Iraq has been moving towards civil war for years according to the media. Sorry to let you down, but it will not happen. And this event, of which we are seeing just your version, does not change the big picture of the USA moving in victory's direction.

My goodness, but you have no fan club! This is how free speech works. You get to speak, we get to answer.

Looks like your nonsense is getting answered faster and faster. You are popular! Like a toilet is.

What's worse is you seem to enjoy it! Not hard to understand.
