Iams weight loss is a good food, but make sure to check the portion you are giving him. You can try cutting back the amount you are feeding. Also, no treats or people food.
Exercise is a big factor. You can get him to chase things and get a little cat nip as inspiration.
A laser pointer is awesome for kitty exercise. You can sit on the couch and point the little light around the room, most cats go crazy.

Too many calories of diet food is the same as too many calories of regular food. Feed your cat less food, no snacks either. And don't forget excercise. Every day! Cats get diabetes and other weight-related problems, too. So, get the weight down before your cat lives a short, miserable, and expensive life. Good luck. Tough love.

I had the same problem with my cat. Cat food works different with all cats, so the Iams might not be working for your cat. It's a process of elimination. I found out that my cat works best with Nutro Weight Management. Good luck!

Is he a tabby? Tabbies have a habit of becoming extremely obese. Take for example my sister's cat... Fat bob! lol Awwwww I'd say take him to the vet, maybe they can do some test, he may have a thyroid problem just like some humans.

stop feeding him so much. Don't give dry food that makes them fat. If you do leave it down in the morning for a few hours than take it up. Then put it down at night for a few hours. Don't leave food there all the time

I don't know - our cat weighs between 20-22 lbs. She will be 14 in September so she isn't real playful. I put her kitty litter in the shower stall and she has to climb in and out - that is her daily exercise.

Low fat Iams food is great but you need to play with him to use up some of that energy he's eating.

hahaha My friend has an overweight indoor cat. His name is Snuggles, but I call him Moose. They have him on a very strict diet. He only eats at certain times throughout the day. They don't leave him dry food on the floor at all, only water.

Quit feeding him. just give him water for a week or two and he'll lose some weight. But then again, why do you care if he is fat??
