Why does everyone think that Christians are such bad people. I'm a Christian and It is not as bad as they say. Lots of people come to christ. You guys make it sound like we choose only the people we like to be saved.

As a Christian you listen to God and you do what he tells you because you want to become a true follower of christ. But when no one wants to listen to you try to help them. What's the point ? If you atheists out there want to burn in Hell that's your problem, But give us a chance

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

You say "As a Christian you listen to God and you do what he tells you because you want to become a true follower of Christ." and that is exactly why rational people find your world view dangerous.

Morality comes from causality. Something is not morally right or wrong because someone tells you it is... instead morals can be judged by the amount of harm an action will cause yourself, and/or others.

Christianity is morally bankrupt. Furthermore if the god of the bible is morally perfect than killing unruly children, and the keeping and beating of slaves is morally correct. Nobody in their right mind would agree with that statement, but go ahead and look in your bible, god condones these things.

Christianity is particularly dangerous because it promotes ignorance. The church want's nothing more than for you to be a blind follower of their worldview so that they may control the world around them.

Christianity lacks sound morality and stifles progress based on a collection of incredible mythology.

That's only the tip of the iceberg but hopefully it will give you some perspective.

I am a believer and faithful follower of Christ. I understand fully what you are saying. What I have learned in my walk is this, for me it is about the relationship with Christ, the walk. When I profess faith then I had to learn what did Jesus do and try to model my life in than manner. Wish I could tell it was easy but that would not be truthful. However I don't give up. I have learned that following Jesus is not about judging but about giving. Giving of myself for the betterment of others. That's hard because everything in the world tells you just the opposite.

I read as much as I can, I study, I walk the walk. I learned that it is not about what I say but the things that I do. See the world is watching us, judging us and rightfully so. If we are real in what we profess, we don't have to say a word. People will know and that is the key.

Don't worry about what others think keep your eyes on your walk. That is where your testimony is. Don't worry what someone else is following, let your light shine bright. Walk in faith, live by faith and everything else will fall into place.

I'm 40 years old, and was born and raised in Southern Mississippi. I have met a good share of "so-called" Christians and have been to several Christian churches (of different faiths or sects). And, I can honestly say that I have NOT had a pleasing experience with none of the above.

I have been accused in some of my previous questions or posts as being one who stereotypes Christians and have been informed that all Christians aren't like the ones that I have met or talked to. Well, I haven't met any that don't try to shove their beliefs down other's throats. To "witness" for GOD is one thing...to harrass someone or claim others to be ignorant simply because they don't share your beliefs is another.

You say, "give us a chance" in the last part of your post....well, the fact is....some of us are tired of giving you a chance, because some of you take advantage when given the opportunity.

I'm not ignorant, I understand that it isn't very accurate to let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch...but when you are bitten by a certain breed of dog, you get anxious and don't want to mess with dogs that are of the same breed. (and NO, I'm not calling Christians "dogs"....its just a metaphor)

Uh. Maybe it is statements like this that rub people the wrong way. Lots of people don't like Christians because they come on too strong, and judge too harshly. Many atheists have given the church a chance. Many chances. Some may be just as in the know as to what the church can offer as you. But they made a choice that the church is not for them. That is something that should be respected.

Things like this..aren't helping. If you really want to help, do good instead of making posts like this. Clearly you don't care for atheists. The contempt for them is blazingly obvious..so why would an atheist turn to someone who dislikes them in a obvious manner for help? Would you turn to someone who didn't like you? Show some respect for other people's beliefs. Learn acceptance.

You're not required to 'save' souls. Just be a good person. Help, like I said above. Do something productive.

There's nothing inherently wrong with all Christians. I think what turns people off to Christians, however, is the attitude that some so-called Christians have. The attitude I refer to is an attitude of "holier than thou art," an attitude that says anyone who is different or who doesn't believe exactly as I do is going to hell or at least highly suspect. However, a lot of people have this attitude, and not just Christians. For some Muslims, this attitude goes so far as to say "let's kill anyone who doesn't believe exactly as I do." Unfortunately, since Christianity is a dominant religion in the USA and since a lot of Christians who have this attitude are highly vocal and even involved in politics, it gives a bad color to all Christians. It's a stereotype and people who believe stereotypes are ignorant, so I wouldn't let it worry you. As Christians, lets all do our best to live good lives and hopefully we'll overcome the stereotype some day.

You believe that other families who don't want to worship Christ or don't believe the stories and myths are dammned. Basically christians walk around the world knowing that most people are dammned.

This is an offensive world view to most outsiders. That they change to your beliefs or be dammned. You have a right to believe what you want, but it's offensive to many.

Oh, we're having the Johnsons over for dinner tonight. They are very friendly but they believe that dad (who died last year) is burning in hell because he wasn't Christian. Then you have to eat dinner across from a bunch of people who HONESTLY THINK that your dead father is burning in hell.

You see how that's offensive?

I totally agree w/ you. I'm a christian and I'm not a mean person. I'm a young person who has a piercing and loves rock but I still love God and know he loves me. I can't believe some of the horrible comments on here and some of the other questions people put on here about christians. I feel very persecuted just reading that stuff. I have to deal w/ a dad who hates christians and won't talk to me. God Bless You. Angie

There's an old saying that "It only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel." Unfortunately, this has ruined the viewpoint many people have of Christianity because the "Christians" have failed God in some way or are overbearing in their witness or etc. that "turns people off" to it. All we can do is the best we can, and if that "turns people off" then we need to "be sure of our calling" like the Scrpiture says and do our best not to "offend anyone in word or deed."

Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

(NOT A VIRGIN BIRTH! - betcha never knew that.)

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Gods do not die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us? Big deal!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

If you swallow this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to swallow it too.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming lost.

What is a Christian Principle?

You see the thing is that you think you are right, and do not respect others who think that they are right. It is impossable for you to "prove" that your religion is better or more right than my religion. You think that everybody who doesn't perscribe to your beliefs is going to go to hell. I think you are wrong. The strength of my beliefs is just as strong as the strength of your beliefs, if not stronger. Why can't you and people like you respect the faith of others, when it differs from yours? If you can't answer that, then now you know what is wrong with christians like you. (not all christians, some of you keep your religious beliefs private.)
