You wont be able to take the PUG out as much as you might want to in the heat of the summer, as they tend to have breathing difficulties... I would choose a lab over an Golden only because there is less grooming! Early positive obedience classes is a MUST and lots of exercize!

None of these. The retrievers need room to run and can wreck a house not even meaning to. A Pug would have problems with the stairs but the yard's ok. Pros & Cons on each.
As a professional groomer of 21 years;-- with an 11 yr old girl,...I would recommend the smallest breed of beagle.
They are the right size for the house, the yard, and the girl.
The bigger breeds would be hard for her to handle on a leash.
The beagle can negotiate the stairs easier then a pug. ( Pugs tend to have more orthpediac problems, whereas a beagle doesn't. )
They are VERY smart, can be housebroken easily.
They have what we call a "bird-mouth"; meaning they don't really have the temperment to bite, and IF they ever should, they don't have the bite-pressure to do much damage, unlike most other breeds.
Good Luck !

I've always wanted a pug just so i can name it Pugsley haha but I think I have had both types of retrievers in the past and LOVED them both the same. If I were to recommend one, however, it would be the golden retriever. Very playful, friendly, loyal...everything a dog should be :)

I think that Golden retrievers and Labs are both great breads for Kids. Labs are good jogging dogs too if you wanted a dog to jog with.
I would go with a Lab. They also don't shed as much.

You should get a golden retriever! You should get one because they are very loyal! They are also very intelligent! They are great dogs to train too. I have one, and it's name is, Miley. I actually have a house full of them! Good luck! I hope you find the dog that fits you best! ;-)

Labs & Goldens are great family dogs. Pugs are more prone to health problems, plus I just don't find snorty, push-faced dogs cute.

golden retrievers shed alot and are very clumsy. Labs are very friendly dogs, they also get along great w/ children. labs are family dogs, buy they will safe guards your house for you, labs are very attentive so they will whine when you leave and act happy when you return.

It just depends on if you want a big or small dog. Pugs are loving but stubborn, bordering on stupid. lol My daughter is 8 and she loves hers to death. I prefer a Rott myself.
