You should be able to loose an average of 2 to 3 pounds per week. If you work that out in time then you it would be between 16 and 26 weeks to loose 50 pounds. To loose weight faster than that probably means you are not doing it in a healthy way - and more importantly these should be changes that you can adopt forever to keep the weight off. It is probably worse for your weight to yo-yo than to have never lost any weight in the first place. Good luck and congratulations on taking steps toward a more healthy lifestyle!

witha change in diet to rid yourself of excess sugars and fat reducing your calories by 10-20% and exercise increase of say 3-4 hours per week (moderate diet and exercise) you would probably lose 1 lb a week

it would depend on how overweight you are to start and will get harder as you get leaner

assuming you are around 5'7" -5'9" (?) and moderate bone size you could do this in just over a year

You could do it safely in 4-6 months, if you get a checkup and baseline cardiogram first. Do 45 minutes of Cardio 1st thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. Drink lots of water. Good luck!
