Why some atheists are so murderous? Example--Stalin who murdered 20 million people. What were the basis of his morality?
Why some theists are so murderous? Example--The inquisitors,
the crusaders,warmongers etc. How do they justify themself of such acts according to their scriptures?

because they are human beings. Humans have a very easy time believing only certain parts of their doctrines, etc. picking and choosing certain quotes from their religious doctrines and ignoring others just proves that they are human beings.

You may have answered you own question. Morality is ultimately independent of religion, or the lack of it.

When Christ is in the midst, they would not have done as they did.
