Check with a DR
Might be something serious

STOP SCARING HER!!!
I've bruised easily my whole LIFE---& I'm healthy as ANYONE! and I'm in my 50s. It's not that unusual---what IS unusual is that it just started.

Ask these questions:
Does she bleed easily when cut a litte?
Is she taking Vitamin E ?...aspirin? It's fairly normal when in your 70s but I'd say that's a little early at 59.

Find out if she's added either of these to her daily intake? (or some other blood thinner) because there are blood thinners that will make bruises surface, even though easy bleeding might not be an issue.

If neither of these are in her diet, she should see a doctor who specializes in blood disorders; (even if they are she should see one---bcz she might be taking too large a dose)...

BUT WAIT>>>>
her primary care doctor might have the answer, and if not, he or she could make a referral to the blood specialist.

No need for alarm. Just learn through research & reading, and tell her to always ask a medical professional for their 'take' on it AFTER she's advised them of her research & supplemental intake and diet.

Are you taking aspirin or a blood thinner? Did you stop eating meat? Please see your doctor. Not in a call him right now kind of way, but you most definitely should make an appointment. Not normal at all.

I actually came back to edit this. I read in an article that women who aren't taking in enough calories (read: malnourished) are more prone to bruising. Weight loss can also cause bruising on the skin. Perhaps you should re-evaluate your diet with a nutritionist or your doctor. Maybe you need more calories per day than you think.

People over the age of 50 bruise fairly easy. Find out if this is a sudden onset sort of thing and if she is taking any aspirin or blood thinner. Also how much weight she has lost and how fast could be a factor. I would get her a doctors appointment but I would not call 911.

Excessive or frequent bruising is caused by a deficiency of either potasium or K vitamin. She needs to consult a doctor or nutritionist as soon as possible.

This is a guess, but maybe when you started dieting you stopped getting all the nutrients/ vitamins you needed, so this is the result. I haven't a clue. It would probably be a good idea to consult a doctor.

not normal. She needs to see a doctor, and check for blood clotting factor (vitamin K). What kind of diet it she on? The best diets do not keep you from an entire food group.

Get some vitamin K, if it doesn't go away see a doctor. Vitamin K deficiencies cause bruising.
