Because for some reason people think it contradicts with each other when it's very much possible to be both. Much in the vein of being gay and a republican, a person can beleive in certain political ideas in a party without having to accept every aspect of that party. So even though there are two parties, there are quite a lot of variations in which you can be both things. One necessarily doesn't cancel out the other.

I have posed the same question over the years. I am a Democrat and a good Christian. I attend my church weekly and have no problem in communicating with the God of my understanding. Which, I believe, is the same God most Christians worship.

There is a talk radio host in the Houston market that has stated Democrats should not be allowed to enter a Christian Church.

I continue to love God and have no problem voting for Democrats when I agree with their platform.

I am a good person, a good Democrat and a wonderful Christian.

Because if you look at the Republican agenda, they are usually standing for the things that would be considered Christian values. Things like pro-life, no gay rights, etc. But they forget things like their pro-gun, pro-war, and anti-poor/minority mentality. Personally, I have known too many people to be killed by guns, had to go fight in a war they didn't believe in, and poor to be a Republican. No matter what my religious affiliation was. And you know what, if someone is gay and wants to get married, why do I care? I'm against abortion except for rape cases and where the mother would die trying to give birth. Caring for your fellow man, programs that could help people get out of a bad situation that they didn't choose to be in, these are the things I feel are Christian and Democratic. Weighs more on me than gay rights do that's for sure.

Because christianity preaches bigotry and the Democratic party stands for, among other things, human rights and equality. (It sort of offends me that human rights is a bi-partisan issue, but that's neither here nor there). Christianity also preaches against abortion (Democrats are traditionally pro-choice) and gays and their rights (Democrats, being champions for equality, are traditionally pro-gay rights). There are other contradictions, as well, but it's difficult for people to believe that you could delude yourself with two completely different moral centers and ideals. This means that in different parts of your life you apply different principles and obviously don't even think about it. But hey, there are creationist scientists, so obviously it can be done.

I'm not sure that I know any good christians of any party affiliation. The answer to your question is because they are not good christians.

I don't remember - what part of the bible did Jesus decry gay rights and abortion?

Democratic beliefs collide with christian ones? I suppose that Republican beliefs fall right in line with them though, right? Like hating everyone, and being disgustingly wealthy, being fat drug addicts, and starting wars for political and monetary gain of your buddies all high on Christ's list of acceptable behavior.

It all depends on what kind of Christian you are. I've talked to a lot of pro-choice Christians, however that works, and they see nothing wrong with being a democrat. I see some problems with being a Republican and Christian, but not as many as with being a Dem.

People who think that are fake Christians, also known as Republicans, full of hate and judgement, total hypocrites.

Too much acceptance of alternative viewpoints. Christians are a little scared of that.

It's not that you can't,it's that liberals tend to push so many laws that go against Christianity, like gay rights and abortion, which are abominations.
