Ask when you order. Probably should still tip, maybe a few bucks.

Tipping is NEVER necessary. Note, I said NECESSARY. If "tips" were done away with workers would not take jobs that offer such **** for salary and employers would thus be forced to pay people what they are worth rather than expecting clients to pick up the tab.

Now, libertarian philosophy aside.
If a buisness is charging for delivery; I would assume that this pay is going to the driver. Best thing to do is to ask the guy who takes the orders on the phone if that delivery fee goes to the driver.

Even if that pay does go to the driver, also realize that with gas prices being what they are - a tip would probably be greatly appreciated by teh deliverer.

If the money does NOT go to the driver, ask what the hell they are charging you for - because that is just plain rediculous. If you aren't paying for the driver or the drivers compensation what are you paying for? the boxes that cost them under a cent each - when they give to-go boxes for free?

Yes you should. The delivery fee charged by the restaurant does not go to the driver so you should tip him just like you would a waiter. I would say that 10% would be more than fair.

I do not tip. This is similar to when you go to a restaurant with 10 friends, and they tell you they will put a mandatory gratuity charge of 18% on the bill for a large party. When they charge me for delivery, they are making a mandatory gratuity in my eyes. If they want tips for their drivers, the delivery should be free.

Just tip the poor delivery kid. If he's working for a restaurant that charges a delivery fee he probably isn't making diddly for money.

Have a heart and chuck out 10% unless the delivery person is an idiot or rude.

Give the kid a tip -- he isn't getting to pocket the delivery charge. Depending on th order and how far the person has to drive, 3 or 4 bucks is good. Five if the order is really large.

I agree with Apple Walnut: if the restaurant clearly states there is a charge for delivery, you do not have to tip. If the deliverer has a problem with that, he needs to talk with his employer ... who set the policy.

you never HAVE to tip, it is just nice if you do. As for delivery, like i said if you want it. The tip amount should be the tax.

For me it;s 14%, for other it's only 10%

If they charge for delivery, the payment for the deliverer is worked in that cost. It is not necessary to tip/

no you don't, you only tip when somebody is actually "serving you" that's also why we don't tip at any fast food places. In the other hand, if you really like the person that came to deliver whatever it was you order, than you could, but you're not obligated to do so.
