Yes. All the world's ills are due to that Great Satan, America. In fact, I think we can blame Adam & Eve eating the apple on America as well. And George Bush too. It's a big conspiracy!

That's absolutely right! The whole story of the Archduke's assassination in 1914 was just a coverup to distract the world from America's imminent invasion of Iraq in 2003. I'm SO glad someone is finally standing up to this and spreading the truth! Keep it up, man! Don't let them grind you down!

From the website I pasted below:

The explosive that was World War One had been long in the stockpiling; the spark was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914.

Ferdinand's death at the hands of the Black Hand, a Serbian nationalist secret society, set in train a mindlessly mechanical series of events that culminated in the world's first global war.

WWI has something to do with "some dude getting shot," and it was time for the Ottoman Empire to move on into the dustbin of history. But, since most of Europe was governed by royal families who were all inter-related, it was case of domestic dispute, and one in which its members were not really all that angry. Just stupid. And that is why those who study it come away thinking it was probably the most stupid war in history.

Let me get this straight, The Great War, 1914-1918, was started by the 2003 Iraqi invasion? What have you been smoking?!

no, the first world war was sparked by the assassination of Ferdinand, but what caused it was all of the political alliances throughout Europe. One group is mad at another and then someone gets killed. Well, then this group has their back, and this one has that ones, and so forth and so on until war. Please remember that the U.S. tried to stay out of it until it could no longer do so. Now, if only the people in the governments throughout the world could remember the lessons taught by that war...

uhm i hope you're joking. first of all, the conflict in iraq isn't technically a world war because it takes place in one theater, not multiple ones. secondly, there have to date only been 2 actual world wars - the first one 1914-1918, the second one 1939-1945.

You can find more information in history books or online.

Oh and to those wonderful people who consider the two world wars an example of how the U.S. keeps "coming to the rescue" of other countries: please, at least PRETEND you have a brain before you start spewing out non-sense.

Your version of history sounds more like "Fractured Fairytails".

WWI: Some Archduke and his Mrs. get blowwed away and the US is called to duty and go over to France to save their bacon (for the first time). Some little Heine named Adolf gets bent out of shape so we go back over to France for WWII to save their bacon for the second time.

As for the Orient Express...I rather to prefer the Marrakesh Express...it's like Man! I'd fly 10,000 miles to smoke a camel.
