I'm in the San Diego area, and I'm looking for a place to get an excellent gelato... one that tastes like it was made in Italy!

Little Italy seems like a good place to start, but I would go to the Gelato store on Washington & Hancock. It's on Washington, by El Indio, near Pacific Coast Hiway, This was the first place any San Diegoan had ever had Gelato, and boy did we thinkwe were sophisticated!

Gelato Vero is the one somebody mentioned off Washington St. but THE place to go is Cafe Zucchero in Little Italy. They'll also have a bakery there that will rock your world.

Bubby's in the Lumberyard, a beautiful center in Encinitas, a beach town about 25 min. north of SD. It's on the 101 hwy and they make it on location, by a very nice Euro woman.

You can take the Coaster train for a few bucks and it's less than a mile from the station. Try Manhattan pizza on "D" street too.

I love the espresso and the pistachio. They have about 20 flavors.

Try the Little Italy district, just north of the main part of the city.
