An MC's job is to co-ordinate, introduce, and keep things going smoothly.

You go up and say, "Welcome to the This-and-That. I'm So-and-So, and we're here to do Such-and-Such." You introduce the speakers, or the acts, or whatnot, in their turns. You might open with a prayer or have someone else do that.

Your duties are similar to that of a TV talk-show host or the MC at awards show, except that you probably won't have to tell jokes. You might ask the person who's chosen you for the job what you're expected to do.

Don't worry if you make little mistakes; that's par for the course. Have fun doing it!

If that is anything like an officiant, then they will be performing and leading the wedding party throughout the ceremony. They will meet with the bride and groom months before the wedding and talk about what they would like to have in their wedding such as what readings, family traditions, etc. They will run the rehearsal. They will be the people who will submit your marriage certificate to the state. Hope this helps.
