Depends on the rite and on the one doing the Baptism.
I've seen baptisms where the priest held the baby - but that's because they were his nephews.
Most will have parents and godparents take turns.

Why dont you give the child a chance to choose. I dont think baptizing a baby is right. GOD gave each and everyone of us free will and by baptizing a baby you are entering into a fals baptism because the baby does not know what is going on. Let him grow up the way you want to raise him and if he accepts your religion then fine but if not let him seek the truth. dont bind him at a young age
