I would suggest that they are fixed. I play roulette at casionos and USED to play the machines in the bookies until I saw sense. You tell me this, I backed every number in singles, corners, straights, etc except for ONE number and guess where the spin landed???

And that wasn't just a one off, I have done that more times than I can count.

My advice is stay clear of them, and take no notice of the bias guy who answered your question who works in a bookie, he would say that.

I have no hidden agenda, so stay away THEY ARE FIXED!!!

YES and the reason is this.
The owner where the machines is situate, has the facility to set the payout rate depending on how much money the machine takes in during day or week.
He is able to fix how much money the machine pays out in relation to how much money it takes in.
For instance, if the machine takes in £100 in a day, he can set the rollers in the machine to pay out £20 .
So he has £80 profit for that day and all he has to pay out of that £80 is for a little electricity and light.

So you walk in with £5 and walk out with £120, but you're mad because you sometimes lose £5 ten times in a row? According to my calculations, you should be up £65. Since when do you play roulette on a machine? If you want a better answer, please phrase your question with more clarity.

they are fixed the same way a fruit machines is fixed . Fruit machines on average are set at 86% so if you put in £100 the machine will keep £14 and this is legal

No but they are very addictive and much easier to lose large amounts of money on than the horses or greyhounds....otherwhise no bookies would have them as they would lose money.

Its illegal to fix them, but your chances of winning are slim. Stay away unless you want to end up broke. In fact, stay away from bookies in general.....

Not in the way you're thinking, but the rules of the game are designed so that mathematically the house always wins
