It's a marketing strategy. For people who are real bugs about waste, to come out even, they have to buy 5 packs of dogs and 4 packs of buns.

I've sometimes wondered that, I think it is a conspiracy to make you buy more hot dogs.
If you buy 5 packs of hot dogs and 4 packs of buns it will all even out.

he first packs of hot dogs had 10 in them but they were smaller. Then companies like Oscar Mayer and Ballpark and such started making bigger hot dogs but only put 8 to a pack to keep from having to raise their prices so much.

You can still find packs of hot dogs that have 10 to the pack.

I don't know... maybe they throw a 2 spares in the pack in case you mess one up or a serial killer steals one or you just feel like eating a bun?

Because the people who make bread and the people who make hot dogs do not talk to each other.

Because they (both parties) do not know how to count.
