First of all you need not believe everything you hear on TV. There are several strains of the bird flu and believe it or not the bird flu is actually already here in the US. HOWEVER, what the media fails to say (in order for better ratings and viewing) is that there is only one strain that doctors and scientists fear can be deadly to humans and guess what? It is hasn't "jumped species" yet, meaning its still only contained to birds. The people that have died from what experts are calling the bird flu were living in poverty stricken countries in which healthcare was poor and inadequate. They probably did die from a form of the bird flu. The thing that is holding back the bird flu from "jumping" is one gene that makes it only susceptible to birds. Experts fear that the mutation of this gene will cause the "jump" and therefore humans could contract it.

If it happens then no amount of stock-piling and hiding away is gonna save you - sooner or later you will have to come out of your bunker or take off your face mask and find out whether you're immune or not.
Worry about things you can do something about and don't sweat the bird-flu thing - otherwise we'll get more deaths from panic than from the **** virus!

Seriously, I am a bit..I'm very concerned about the media blackout of bird flu. It was "The Big News" for awhile. The last thing I heard was it was in Canada or somewhere close.
I'm guessing the powers that be figure we got enough to worry about with wars rumors of wars, global warming, aids so on and so on.Why through one more thing on our plate.

I think...I'm pretty scared. Mostly just because I'm young, and scared I'm going to die before I can do so many of the things I want to do as I get older.

No, to be honest, I'm not freaked out at all. This is just like the Y2K thing, the media is making a mountain out of a molehill. Trust me, you'll know when it's time to freak out. Best of luck to you......
