i live here and i'm still here for the past 9 years. currently, i'm in the capital, jakarta. i've been to yogyakarta (jawa), solo (jawa), bandung (jawa), lampung (sumatera), and bali (bali).

lemme tell you about jakarta. it is under the top ten most metropolitan cities in the world (& the most dirtiest in terms of trash). there's a lot of clubs you can go check out: bliss, manna house, stadium, wonder bar, embassy, bc bar, parc, loft 25, retro, ... a lot of clubs, i say. we have plenty of cultural events here. one of my favorites is the java jazz festival. 2 years ago, james brown came here and performed at the jazz fest. actually, all of the world's jazz musicians come here and perform. the best shopping malls are plaza indonesia, plaza senayan, PIM I & PIM II (pondok indah mall), cilandak town square, plaza semanggi, sudirman place, and so on. although my favorite area or district (whatever you call it) is kemang. you can find anything you want in kemang. it's a cool place to hang out. they have the best cafes, art galleries, and bookstores. and the food... i'm sure you'd like the food if you're willing to try new things. don't worry, our food is actually edible! they're not gross. =)

if you want to know about bali, please visit the link below. i had best answer to this question: "I'm 26 and want to retreat to Bali for 6 months, anyone been?"

you should come down here despite whatever you heard about us in the news! you might just like it here! =)

I'm Indonesian. Now I live in Paris, France, but I used to live in my country for about 15 years. I was born in Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia). I spent my childhood in Jakarta, and mostly in Bandung, West Java. I've lived in Medan (North Sumatra) as well for a half year. Indonesia is a very beautiful country, and I really enjoyed travelling there. I've spent a lot of times in Bali and Lombok, and Jogjakarta too. The most beautiful place I've visited in Indonesia is Mount Bromo. Oh Gosh, can't wait to go back there again.

I've lived in Jakarta and been to Yojakarta, Bali, and Lombok.
Jakarta has great shopping, but is disgustingly dirty. Yoja is not the best place to go with the earthquake that just happened and Mt Merapi exploding, but it's absolutly beautiful and Borobodur (the largest Buddihist temple ever built) is an amazing place to see. Bali is too comercial and Lombok is so quiet. Lombok is the best. Go to the Hindu temples in the forests and the monkey temples. It's great. If you go find a college student to show you around. They speak good English and are quite knowledgeable.
