Red #4 was found to cause cancer in laboratory rats; as such, the FDA disallowed its use in food intended for humans.

Probably because it is an artificial dye.
Mainly it is bad for your furniture and clothes. Red Dye 40 stains and it is very difficult to remove the stain. As a matter of fact, my company does not allow red drinks in the building because of this.

red #4 can cause cancer in lab rats, but their abodes were saturated with it so that can affect results...
