As a general rule of thumb, I try to stay away from off brands, but my girlfriend just bought a new car, and it has a BOSE speaker system, but she keeps complaining that the subwoofer installed in the car doesn't do anything, so I was going to put in a 15'' to fill in the sound. (there's plenty of mid-bass, just nothing below like 40hz). She wants cheap, and I'm looking at Lanzar, because I know they make relatively cheap products, but does anyone know how their 15'' sounds?

they distort as i expected them too. if i were you and was going super cheap, i would look on ebay, for kenwood or pioneer. even go into best buy and see if they have any returned items. i would stay away from Lanzer, unless she likes distortion.

some of the lanzar amps that are the higher end are not too bad for the price, but i have never heard there subs, and i really doubt they are any good. a 15" to fill in the sound is a little big though, you should get a 10" or a 12". Audiobahn makes a good product despite what people say, i have an audiobahn AW1205N SUBWOOFER, and it hits good, however you can find lower models to achieve what you are doing. Audiobahn subs are also priced very well on ebay, take a look.

Go with audiobahn they have great cheap subs like the dub edition ones and the moderate to expensive ones are even better. If your lookin for super cheap id go with the dubs but you could get her a single 12" AW1206T with a 1000 watt amp and it WILL sound like a 15 trust me I already have 2 of them which I just happen to be selling for 225 with the box if you want them

i agree. lanzar is garbage. i sell car audio in california. i believe that you can buy a punch p1 or p2 for the same price. and this stuff is much better. its made by rockford fosgate some of the best stuff on earth. and they are very cheap considering what you get in return. i woulnt buy online. i would just check prices and go to a local store and buy them. warranty is better that way.. i wouln't buy lanzar if it was last thing on earth. ...
