That would be akin to inviting a cop to a shrooms party. Having a person with actual authority explaining that the magic you feel isn't real... well, that has a tendency to ruin what's called "suspension of disbelief".

Religious people reject evolution because they feel it is wrong because it doesn't point toward God or because if they do then they are rejecting God. All religions have major gaps in them as does the fossil record and the theory of evolution. there really isn't a difference between religon and evolution because they both rely solely on faith. You have to have faith in evolution to believe in it as you do in religion. Also lots of people are simply ignorant and haven't taken the time to fully understand what the other theory states. I believe in intelligent design and in God. I don't think the fossil record is an accurate way of proving evolution because of how unstable the earth is and how much the rock layers are often churned up. i do believe in some aspects of evolution, but not all of it.
Also, all you idiots who are saying that evolution states that people descended from monkeys, LEARN YOUR FACTS. Evolution states that man and monkeys have the same ancestor!!!! Not that people descended from them.
Like I said most people have not studied both sides of the competition.

How exactly does the fossil record validate evolution? What have you seen the fossil of a half monkey man? I didn't think so.

It is a fundamental attack on sola scriptura. Fundamentalism, following scripture, states that death is a result of Adam's sin. If dinosaurs lived and died before Adam, then scripture is false, or so it is according to Fundamentalist thinking. Fundamentalism is extreme Protestantism. It takes the five solas of Luther and removes them from their context and takes them as dogma. If you accept evolution then you falsify their understanding of their entire religion. Other Christian communities don't find this a problem, although it is more of a problem for Protestants in general than Catholics or Orthodox because of they way truth is determined in their communities.
To take the problem further, under Fundamentalist thinking, if the bible is false then Christianity is false.
They fail to comprehend the statement of Maimonides that if science and the scripture conflict, then you don't correctly understand scripture. They fail to realize they are wrong and it is critically important to them to be right or the Whore of Babylon, the Catholic Church could be correct.

Because they don't like the fact that they are wrong and cannot support creationism. They can't even make up their minds on creationism. Genesis 1:25-27 states that animals were created before man. Genesis 2:18-19 states that man was created before animals. See what I mean? Maybe if they actually read the bible they would have at least figured this part out.

You'll find that the only people who do reject the science of evolution have little to no education and lower than average IQ's.
Don't let this small but vocal minority bug you.

Because according to the Bible, God created man in his own image and they do not accept that God is any form other than the form of man. They don't consider the idea that the process of creating man included the evolution process and that one day to God could have been longer than what we know as one day............Anyway.......the idea of evolution doesn't fit into their beliefs...........

because there are enough holes in the theory to give room for not believing in it (i.e. evolution also requires a degree of faith)
