Yes it is, as long as the colors don't clash. Style is in the eye of the beholder, and with furniture design, there are little rules. As long as it makes you happy who cares, if you like it then go with it.

There is nothing wrong with mixing different types of woods. I use oak and cedar in my living room. Mixing woods and fabrics makes for a more interesting effect.

It is certainly okay, in fact you should. No one matches woods anymore, that is so 1980's! As long as their are less than 5 different shades you are okay. 5 or more is pushing it.

I have and think it looks ok..you do have to be careful, wouldnt want to go real light with darker shades but various shades of oak and such are easy. I also have several leather colors on furniture and think it looks good. maybe it's just me though

Hey there! If you like earthy tones, I feel that you should go with lush chocolatey brown curtains. It will compliment the beige walls that have a slight brown tone to them as well as contrast with your lighter colored flooring. I also think it will go well with your dark red accents, especially at this time of year, burgundy, mossy greens, and browns are really "in" and look fantastic.

Yes, if your style is contemporary, a coffee colored wood and a really light wood can look striking. If you are more traditional, different browns look good.

My husband is a profession designer, builder and finisher. All our pieces at home reflect his creativity and not everything matches but we did our floor to compliment everything so it kind of jives. I wouldn't know what you'd call it. Contemporary/antiquish?
