Who is the first idiot that answered your question? It's Phuket; not Fuckit!! Moron! Anyway, Phuket is one of my favorite places in the world! The place with all the action is Patong Beach. Most people stay there for the restaurants, bars, and venues. There is so much there for EVERYONE. I've stayed at many places there. I could recommend the 'Coconut Village Resort' or the 'Royal Paradise' resort. Both are under US $50 and are very nice and modern with a pool and restaurant (breakfast included). You can book them online.
If you want to 'get away' from all that, Karon Beach is a short drive away. There, the beach is nice and you can get a bungalow on the hillside that looks out over the Andamen Sea for under US $50. There really isn't any need to pay more than $50 for a hotel anywhere in Thailand, even though some can be pricey. In fact, you can find rooms for as low as $8!! There are also many other beach communities all around Phuket. Take your pic. But if you want nightlife, or if you are traveling alone....stay in Patong Beach. Have a great time!!

35 to 50 quid a night will get u just about any hotel in phuket
patong beach is probs the best resort on the island, nice beach and pretty lively resort. i stayed at the patong beach logde last year and that was pretty good, right in the centre of the resort
for cheap hotels try octopus travel online prices start around £10 a night for double rooms

I'd say Patong Beach also. Good hotels and good nightlife. Stayed in bungalows at Club Andaman hotel, nice place but they charged 2000 baht (28 quid) when they caught you bringing back a hooker, ended up bribing the security with a fiver, more than a day's wages-everyone's a winner. Luckily other establishments are more liberal and will condone such behaviour. Have a good time!

i could say that Patong is in all probability no longer the final theory on your loved ones in phuket! Kata and Karon Beaches will guarantee you a bit of peace but still allow you to only be 15 minutes from the nightlife and more hectic Patong Beach. Site below lists lots of hotels in you budget.

if you really want to stay in patong you would be better staying at the far ends of the beach as it can get noisy towards bangla road if you go to asiarooms.com they list hotels in phuket and you can save quite a nice bundle if you book through them for the amount you want to spend you can stay in most hotels but i would avoid area around bangla road

You can always head there and look for your favourite spot. Around there, everything is within easy reach, so you need not worry, especially with your budget! You can get pretty good places!
